BRZ Construction patches and repairs localized asphalt failures on roads, driveways, and parking areas. Patching is a targeted repair. It is not a complete resurfacing and it will not correct a pavement that has failed across most of its area.
What patching and repair means
Patching removes a defined area of failed asphalt and replaces it with compacted asphalt. Full-depth patches are used when the failure goes through the pavement. Surface patches are only appropriate when the base is still holding.
Who this service is for
Property managers, owners, contractors, and homeowners who need failed spots corrected so the pavement can stay in service or so a later overlay has a sound surface to cover.
Typical applications
- Pothole patching
- Failed parking-lot or driveway sections
- Wheel-path and edge patches
- Pre-overlay patching
What the project may involve
- Marking failed areas to a sound pavement limit
- Cutting and removing unsound asphalt
- Correcting base issues inside the patch if they are present
- Placing and compacting the patch
Limits of patching
A well-cut patch in a sound pavement can last. A patch in pavement that is already cracked in every direction is a short-term measure. If most of the surface needs patches, overlay or reconstruction should be evaluated instead of continuing to spot-repair.

Questions about Asphalt Patch & Repair
Is patching the same as asphalt repair?
Patching is a common form of asphalt repair focused on a defined failed area. Broader asphalt repair can also include larger section repairs and work done to prepare for resurfacing.
Will a patch stop a pothole from coming back?
A patch holds when the surrounding pavement and base are sound and water is not sitting in the area. If drainage or base failure caused the hole, those issues still have to be addressed.
Can patches be used before mill-and-overlay?
Yes. Failed areas are often patched first so the milled surface and overlay are not placed over pavement that is already moving.
